Many Indian voters are rejecting Rao despite his success in reform
Article Abstract:
P.V. Narasimha Rao's reform policies have succeeded in providing a much-needed boost to the Indian economy. Unfortunately, this has not translated into political popularity. Many Indian voters are aware that Rao has done a good job but they are simply fed up with the corruption and political infighting that has characterized the ruling Congress Party in the past years. Analysts expect the Congress Party to lose its parliamentary majority when the results of the general election are announced on May 9, 1996.
