Marketing planning and its dangers
Article Abstract:
The new housing crisis which has arisen in the Netherlands is partly due to a flawed marketing strategy adopted by planners, who moved away from the idea of growth management and focused instead on the 'policy life cycle'. Planners sought to give planning more political appeal, and this meant turning to new issues instead of growth management: they focused instead on economic recovery and the search for new coalition partners. However, neglecting ongoing policies in the search for new topics meant less attention to housing provision.
