Adversity knocks: Halla's Chung In Yung beats the odds
Article Abstract:
Halla Group founder Chung In Yung has a reputation for overcoming setbacks and keeping authoritarian control in his efforts to build a company to rival his brother Chung Ju Yung's Hyundai. The two were long a study in contrasts until In Yung, who helped found Hyundai, left in anger over Ju Yung's aggressive pursuit of contracts in the Middle East. Now the younger In Yung is equally bold, though his group - the second he has founded - is mired in debt. In Yung's sons have a milder reputation, but may be just as savvy.

Farming for brides: South Korean villagers struggle to find wives
Article Abstract:
South Korean farmers are finding it increasingly difficult to find wives who are willing to live out the rest of their lives on the farm. Many rural women have refused to go back to farming after finding out that better job opportunities await them in the city. In an attempt to find effective solutions to the shortage of potential spouses, many Korean bachelors move out to the city to find a wife or go to the extent of picking up potential brides from ethnic Korean communities such as those found in China.
