Natsteel Electronics, Venture get a leg up amid sector ills
Article Abstract:
Contract manufacturers of the electronic components industry in Singapore such as Venture Marketing and Natsteel Electronics are showing good performance despite the country's current economic crisis. Venture and Natsteel construct electronic components on consignment from original equipment manufacturing companies such as Dell Computer and Compaq Computers. Shares of both companies are seen by investors as attractive particularly that of Venture, posted at 3.62 Singapore dollar. Natsteel's share closed at $1.59.

Alphatec reprieve shows creditor interests
Article Abstract:
Alphatec Electronics PCL's bondholders are holding $45 million in Euroconvertible debentures, allowing the company more time to stave off liquidation proceedings. Alphatec, which has failed to pay its creditors a total of $450 million in scheduled loan payments, must prepare a final reorganization plan by Sept. 5, 1997, when a detailed financial report on the company will be presented by independent auditors Price Waterhouse & Co.

Adverse market conditions seem to play to Winbond's favor in placing issue

Taiwanese semiconductor firm Windbond Electronics Corp. seems to be having success in the bond market. Its shares, which total to $200 million of convertible bonds, reached a high of $105.50 New Taiwan the day of its bond issue despite falling bond prices. Analysts say that prices could have dropped to as low as NT$45 if the company did not go forward with the bond issue.
