Nightclubs and discotheques
Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom market for nightclubs and discotheques is expected to grow during 1998-2002. Consumer spending in nightclubs is due to grow to 2.21 billion pounds sterling in 2002 from 2.16 billion pounds sterling in 1998, while the number of admissions is likely to increase by about 5% a year during the period. Competition is growing, however, with the market adversely affected by competition from other late-night leisure venues, such as late-hour pubs with dance floors. New clubs are opening with increasingly higher capacity, leading to the closure of some smaller clubs.

Nightclubs and discotheques
Article Abstract:
UK nightclubs and discotheques are set to see revenue exceed 2 billion pounds sterling for the first time in 1996. Average spend per head will be 11.60 pounds sterling, with the number of people visiting such locations at 18.5 million. However, demographic trends are having a negative impact on the sector, with a significant decline in the number of people aged 20-24 being particularly damaging. The image of clubs is also being negatively affected as they find ways of dealing with drugs.
