Article Abstract:
The July 1998 privatization of United States Enrichment Corp (USEC), achieved through a $1.425 billion initial public offering (IPO), was notable in several respects. The privatization was the US' largest ever and first in a decade. USEC produces 75% of the nation's nuclear fuel, making it very important strategically. Also noteworthy was the simultaneous use of two basic processess, private sale and equity offering, to complete the deal.

Disagreements over British Energy
Article Abstract:
North Carolina's Duke Power has denied reports that it has expressed an interest in purchasing British Energy, due to undergo a public flotation in summer 1996. Duke Power has confirmed that its strategic plans do not include purchasing nuclear generators outside of the US. The sell-off is expected to raise 2.5 billion pounds sterling for the UK government, and it includes seven gas-cooled stations and one pressurised water reactor.
