Article Abstract:

The Institut Francais d'Architecture in Paris, France, is exhibiting the work of Dominique Perrault, as on of its series of '40 under 40.' There are 39 exhibits marking the fact that Perrault is 39 years old. He won his first commission to design the Someloir factory at Chateaudun when he was 28 and has won ten more competitions that have resulted in buildings. He won the competition for the design of the Bibliotheque de France in 1989 with plans for the largest, most technically advanced library in the world. However there are questions about its technical viability.

Article Abstract:

'Accrochage d'ete' at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Paris, France, shows works from the library of the architectural section of the school. The collection derived from several sources. There are paintings from the former Royal Academy schools of architecture, examples of student work from the Prix de Rome competitions, sketches by Romano, Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Daumier and Matisse and collections of photographs. The mid-nineteenth century photographs are particularly interesting.

The Paris, des Fortifs au Perif exhibition at the Pavillon de l'Arsenal uses purpose built models and videos to illustrate the fortifications surround Paris. It also shows archive photographs and drawings .
