Protect yourself
Article Abstract:
Management consultants can suggest amendments to the business practices of architectural partnerships which will help the architects withstand periods of recession. Factors for examination may include the market, the organization of work within the practice, and the style of management. Three architectural practices report satisfaction following their experiences with one management consultant, Eric Schneider of Schneider and Partners. Changes in the practices after consultation with Schneider included an office move, financial restructuring, and improved internal communication.

Keeping fit in London's hidden underground
Article Abstract:
Daryl Jackson International has turned a former Covent Garden, London, printer's workshop into an extension of the Cannon Sports Club. The building is a two-story concrete crater under the street level, and will comprise a number of rooms including a gymnasium, a swimming pool and an aerobics studio. The work is in sympathy with the original character of the building, and is symbolic of how poor parts of London can be well used.
