The stability of Albania depends on its president, Sali Berisha, agreeing to a fair parliamentary election on Jun 29, 1997. He agreed to fair rules at first, but then reversed himself. If opposition parties feel the election is unfair, they will boycott it and the coalition government will fall.

Mystery killers: Yemen
Article Abstract:
The upcoming Yemen elections have been marred by violence, murders and the attempted assassination of several officials. The government has made little effort to try to bring any of the killers to justice. Many blame their traditional enemy Saudi Arabia.

A discomforting neighbour: Yemen
Article Abstract:
Yemen, though a poor country, has made remarkable strides towards democracy, much to the embarrassment of its autocratic rich neighbor Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia cut aid to Yemen and has tried to discourage oil companies from doing business there.
