SAB's operating profit climbed by 3% in year
Article Abstract:
South African Breweries PLC (SAB) posted an improvement of 3% in its operating profits for the 1998 year. However, the brewer cautioned that it would see ongoing difficult trading for the first half of 1999 as markets in emerging regions battle for recovery. For the year ending on March 31, 1999, SAB posted $786 million in operating profits before exceptionals. In 1998, the brewer posted $766 million.

InBev invests in brewer in China, lifting its stake

InBev S.A. of Belgium is to increase its investment by an additional 124.9 million Yuan ($15.5 million) in Zhujiang Beer of China. The additional investment raises the beverage interest's stake in Zhujiang Beer to 25.31 percent from 24 percent. The world's largest market for beer is in China.
