SCOTIABANK TO SET UP SDC IN BANGALORE

ScotiaBank is thinking of setting up a software development centre in Bangalore, which is likely to be the central processor centre for Asian business. ScotiaBank currently sources its banking software from Tata-IBM. The bank is also planning to set up a subsidiary finance company called ScotiaFinance in April 1999. It will retain 75 percent of the equity of the new company which will have a paid-up capital of $10 million. (khr)

MINISTRY RECOMMENDS 40% DIVESTMENT IN PAWAN HANS
Article Abstract:
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has suggested 40 percent divestment of the government stake in Pawan Hans. The ministry has suggested that divestment must take place after the company completes its restructuring exercise. Before the divestment, the government must write off the loans owed by Pawan Hans to the government and interest liability. Loans and liabilities of Pawan Hans currently amounts to over Rs300 crore.
