Serving those going private: the role of accountancy in privatization
Article Abstract:
The increasing prominence of privatization in the economic programs of several nations has produced a similar increase in the demand for privatization services. Among such services, accountancy is viewed as one of the most important. As a result, accounting firms, especially the large multinational 'Big Six,' figure prominently in privatization programs. These firms serve to integrate skills, experience and knowledge to meet the needs of both public and private sector clients.

On the frontier: what your lawyer brings to privatization in Eastern and Central Europe
Article Abstract:
The shift from command to market-oriented economies in the former Communist nations of Eastern Europe has made transactions in these nations extremely complex. As a result, lawyers are playing an increasingly significant role in delineating and spelling out what can and cannot be done. In addition, lawyers are taking over the role of negotiators in privatization transactions.
