TAC TO COMPLETE EXPANSION BY JUNE
Article Abstract:
Tuticorin Alkali Chemicals and Fertilisers Ltd (TAC), which is promoted by Spic, is scheduled to complete its Rs65 crore expansion programme by June 1999. The project is to increase capacity of soda ash to 1.05 lakh tonnes from 73,000 tonnes at present and that of ammonium chloride to 1.05 lakh tonnes from 67,200 tonnes. The company currently has a 50 percent marketshare for soda ash in the south zone comprising Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Pondicherry. (khr)

CSRTI TIES UP WITH BARC TO BOOST SILK OUTPUT

The Central Sericulture Research and Training Institute (CSRTI) of Mysore and the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a technical joint venture. The joint venture aims at increasing the quality and quantity of silk through field trials and the use of insect growth regulators. (ag)
