TEA EXPORTS UP 47% IN RE-VALUE
Article Abstract:
Tea exports from India increased by 47 percent in value terms to Rs1,431 crore for the eight month period between January and August 1998. This is against Rs972 crore worth of tea exports in the corresponding period of 1997. Tea production in the country in the eight month period was at 520.48 million kilograms (kg) against 481.30 million kg produced in the same period of 1997. (uh) d at 42.34 against the dollar on October 8, 1998. It opened at 42.34/35 and trading was carried out in the range of 42.34 to 42.38 with deals reported at 42.39. There was poor demand for dollars from corporates but inflow of dollars was reported through dollar sales by exporters. (uh)

Brooke Bond India Ltd (BBIL), a leading tea manufacturer has decided to change its logo after 60 years. BBIL's brands include Red Label, Taj Mahal, 3 Roses and A1. These brands will now have a new green oval logo with three leaves mentioning the year of establishment. The move is part of its global strategies.
