The number of payment cards increases

Article Abstract:

Czech Republic: The total number of payment cards in the Czech Republic is 1.5 mil. The cards are utilised by more than 1 mil clients of 24 domestic banks. The largest credit card releasers are Ceska sporitelna (Czech Republic) with 1 mil cards, Komercni banka (Czech Republic) with 250,000 cards and Investicni a Postovni banka (Czech Republic) with 110,000 cards. The most demanded cards are the payment cards Eurocard/MasterCard and Maestro before VISA ans Electron. Goods and services worth more than 10 bil Kc were paid by with cards in 1997, 20% more compared to 1996. More than 14,000 shops accept Eurocard/MasterCard and VISA cards in the Czech Republic.

ABBS increases reliability and life

Article Abstract:

ABB Service (ABBS) (Ostrava, Czech Republic), manufacturer of electrical equipment parts, is increasing the reliability and life of its products. The company commissioned a new production hall with an area of nearly 6,000 sq mt at the end of October 1998. The production hall was built at a cost of 33 mil Kc. The firm will produce coils, commutators and ring heads for electrical equipment at the hall. ABBS also provides services in the field of the operation and maintenance of electromotors in the production process at its consumers. ABBS is a joint venture of the multinational concern ABB and the metallurgy company Vitkovice (Ostrava, Czech Republic).
