Managing puzzling personalities: navigating between 'live volcanoes' and 'dead fish.'
Article Abstract:
Self-aware managers who can also empathize with others are in the best position to improve competitive advantage while encouraging colleagues. Some managers, however, have extreme personalities, ranging from alexithymics, who lack emotion, to hypomanics, who display significant behavioural swings. Colleagues may feel confused about the role they play in interchanges with alexithymic or hypomanic executives and strategies should be developed for handling them. Hypomanics can contribute substantially to creating a good organization if they are kept in check.

Consumer purchasing on the Internet: processes and prospects
Article Abstract:
Most Internet business is between companies rather than customers and it is essential that companies understand the dynamics of consumer behaviour if they are to make the best use marketspace. Normal models of behaviour have to be adapted to suit the Internet. The five stage model of consumer behaviour highlights problem recognition, searching for information, evaluating alternatives, making a purchase and behaviour after a purchase. These hold true for both the marketplace and marketspace but marketing at each stage needs a different approach.
