It's not much, but it's home: Bombay residents find shelter on the street
Article Abstract:
Bombay's housing conditions have created Asia's largest slums and a desperate need that the new Maharashtra state government plans to meet. With a shortage of some one million dwellings, half the city's residents have limited access to public utilities. The government's three-year plan calls for it to pay for new infrastructure, while private developers build 800,000 new units. A separate model project in the 600,000-person Dharavi slum will house 92 families, each in a 180-sq-ft room plus a 100-sq-ft loft.

Grin and bear it
Article Abstract:
Champion Technology Holdings' stock has plummeted recently on pessimism regarding its major market, China, and declining confidence in the firm's management, led by Paul Kan. A pager company that introduced the technology to the Chinese language, Champion recently reported profits for the six months ending Dec 31 11.3% lower than in the prior period. Analysts say Kan has poorly managed shareholder expectations, but add that the company's fundamentals are not bad enough to explain the sell-off.
