Ukraine has refused to give up the nuclear weapons it inherited after the collapse of the Soviet Union, wreaking havoc with international disarmament efforts. The Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty negotiated by the US and Russia is in peril unless Ukraine complies.

Uranium, plutonium, pandemonium
Article Abstract:
The effort towards nuclear disarmament is threatened by the amount of plutonium and highly enriched uranium which is not under strict control. The breakup of the Soviet Union has left many of its weapons out of existing inventories.
