WORLDTEL TO INVEST $10 M INITIALLY IN ISPs
Article Abstract:
WorldTel has stated that it will make an initial investment of $10 million in its project with four southern states to offer Internet services. The total project cost will come to about $100 million for each state. A major part of the investment will be used in setting up the backbone as Wireless Local Loops and Wide Area Networks will have to be developed. The company estimates about 1000 Internet community centres in each state and is thinking of laying a big capacity optical fibre cable pipe to connect the four states. (khr)

SUNDARAM GROWTH FUND BECOMES OPEN-ENDED

Sundaram Newton AMC Ltd has decided to make its first fund, Sundaram Growth Fund (SGF), an open ended from February 19, 1999. SGF was an interval fund launched in February 1997. The fund offered periodic repurchases and reissue of units. The fund has shown good performance and has given a return of 31.7 percent against BSE 200 Index. The investor can invest small amounts regularly in the fund under the systematic investment plan. The fund also provides tax benefits. The fund has a corpus of Rs10 crore. (um)(psr)
