Men's outerwear in Germany

Article Abstract:

The German men's outerwear market amounted to DM23.5 billion in 1996, down some 1% from 1995. Producer numbers have fallen steadily, with output for 1996 estimated at DM4.4 billion, against DM5.4 billion in 1991. Exports of menswear in 1995 reached DM1.5 billion but were greatly exceeded by imports. The overall men's clothing market amounts to some DM35 billion. Further moves towards outsourcing in the industry are expected and outerwear demand is set to remain static in 1997 and 1998.
