Vet. Group, Sen. Kerry demand answers on lack of Armor
Article Abstract:
A group of veterans of the Iraq war and Senator John Kerry, the former Democratic presidential candidate has demanded the Congress to hold hearings into the allegations in the manufacture of more vehicle armor for the Army to protect personnel in combat zones. Armor Holdings, which produces the armored humvees, could increase the production capacity by more than 20% quickly but the Pentagon had not given them the order it needed to increase production.

GAO sees 'gaps' in homeland security research strategy
Article Abstract:
The Department of Homeland Security is yet to devise a strategic plan for research and development, part of which is due to the growing pains from the new agency's Science and Technology Directorate, which has been around sincetition of research projects, particularly when it comes to using the national laboratories run by the Department of E March 2003. A study revealed that such 'gaps' in strategic planning could result in wasteful repenergy (DOE).
