GAO finds army trucks not armored for lack of money
Article Abstract:
A US Government Accountability Office (GAO) revealed in March 2006 that the Army missed a valuable opportunity in moving to meet growing requirements for armored vehicles in Iraq. The missed opportunity was just one of a variety of factors that contributed to the time to provide truck armor kits to deployed troops, placing them at greater risk as they conducted war-time operations in vehicles not equipped with the preferred level of protection.
