Productivity: The Industrial Relations Connection
Article Abstract:
The influence of labor relations on declining productivity is addressed based on a study by the Committee for Economic Development (CED). The article studies three areas: productivity restraints, positive movements to improve productivity, and strategies that hope to continue increased productivity. Tables are used to describe research surveys. A commitment to link the human side of business to the key decision making is found to be very necessary in long term improved productivity. Development of human resources through training and employee involvement show positive results. Management should consider the consequences of their decisions on the employees.

Intel, a microprocessor manufacturer, showed administration overhead increased significantly. Very little information is available on methods to measure and quantify administrative productivity and growth. Intel hoped to develop such a system and conquer the 'administrative marshmallow.'
