Group urges canceling F/A-22, DD(X) Virginia Class subs

A group of liberal defense policy experts of US urges the elimination of Air Force F/A-22 Raptor fighter and the next-generation Navy DD (X) destroyer. The report urges cancellation of the Virginia Class attack submarine program and recommends slowing development of the Army Future Combat System (FCS) and, the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF).

Congress returns to face myriad defense procurement issues

Congress will return from its late-summer vacation in the first week of September 2004, to deal with the array of defense procurement issues. One of the key issue is whether a Pentagon plan to replace aging aerial refueling tanker aircraft will come to execution, or the controversies surrounding the plan will cause its termination.
