The man on the mound
Article Abstract:
Bruce Pattullo, who will become the governor of the Bank of Scotland in late Jun 1991, helped the bank become one of the most respected financial institutions while holding the positions of treasurer, general manager, group chief executive, and deputy governor. The bank has become a leader in management and the use of technology. Pattullo will become involved in the executive process of the bank, an activity in which the governor has not been involved in the past. A crucial part of the bank's strategy is to avoid the formation of large conglomerates offering a variety of services. Diversification may be beneficial in the long run, but banks cannot afford to ignore the fast-changing and turbulent nature of the industry.
