IBM Slashes Personal Computer Prices - Quadruples Memory on Some Models
Article Abstract:
Price cuts of eighteen to twenty-three percent have been announced for IBM's personal computer line. A PC with 256K and single disk drive will now cost $1,995; a 256K PC with double disk drive will sell for $2,420. The PC XT now costs $4,395. The PCjr will be priced at $599. The memory of the PC was raised to 256K. These price cuts will make it very difficult for IBM's competition to maintain their market position.
