E-mail service targets Europe, Far East

Active Names, a permission-based e-mail change-of-address service headquartered in New York, NY, will open data centers in Europe and the Far East by 3d qtr 2001. According to Active Names Pres David Mimran, the company is negotiating with potential partners to establish shop in Europe and Asia. Declining to identify companies, Mimran said that in Europe Active Names is looking at UK, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland, and in Asia, the company is choosing between Japan and Singapore.

Record revenues propel German call center east
Article Abstract:
Revenues of Germany's largest call center operation, the Walter Telemedien Group, will surpass 100 million German marks in 1999 and are expected to reach 150 million German marks in 2000. The firm has opened two new call centers, one in Bremen and the other in Magdeburg. The Magdeburg center is the company's first operation in the former East Germany. Walter Telemedien has a total of 21 call centers in nine locations including the Bremen and Magdeburg facilities.

Bertelsmann CEO Thomas Middlehoff announced plans to expand the company's presence in China.
