No news is good news for Internet travel agents
Article Abstract:
Internet travel agencies have managed to survive despite Northwest Airlines' decision to stop paying them commissions. Industry observers were expecting other airlines to follow Northwest with their own commission cuts. This would have been disastrous for Web travel agencies, such as Travelocity.com, Cheaptickets.com, Priceline.com and Expedia.com, which depend on airfare ticket revenue. Northwest Airlines is hoping online users will migrate from the travel sites to its own Web site when purchasing plane tickets.
