On heels of successful test, Oriac plans 4 U.S. drops

Newton, MA-based Oriac Design plans to mail four catalogs throughout the US in 2001. The move comes after the test drop of 300,000 catalogs in the Northeast in Nov 2000, proved to be a success. The European interior design book is aimed at interior designers, architects, high-end professional service companies and high-income consumers interested in interior design items. Oriac Design will conduct the first mailing in Mar 2001.

800.com, an electronics e-tailer, continues its move into direct mail with a drop of 250,000 catalogs scheduled in the last week of May 2001 for Father's Day and graduation. This followed the company's initial circulation of one million books in early May 2001. The company said that catalogs will be a permanent part of its business plan, with the next effort during the fall/holiday season of 2001.
