Optimal tax-transfer systems and redistributive policy
Article Abstract:
Indices for income taxes were formulated after measuring the effectiveness of actual tax, tax-benefit systems and benefit policies with the use of the inequality impact of optimal policy. The indices, which take into account an inequality aversion parameter, can be utilized to assess the contribution of targeting to observed inequality trends. With regards to benefit systems, the indices can be used to measure the inequality performance of an incomes policy.

Family policy with non-cooperative families
Article Abstract:
The effects of different types of family policies are studied through a non-cooperative model of a family's time allocation for market work and providing family public goods such as child care. Underprovision of the public good is predicted in the model. Redistribution between spouses may change the final distribution within the marriage. Progressivity in the income tax can also improve welfare.
