Sudden exit for Oxford master

Sir Peter Williams, the master of St Catherine's College, Oxford has announced his decision to leave his post after just 18 months. Williams was the favourite for the position of vice-chancellor of Oxford University, but he found his other commitments to be in conflict with his position as master.

Big shake-up and new v-c could take Oxford from ivy-clad to Ivy League
Article Abstract:
Oxford University could shed its old-fashioned image and become more like an Ivy League university following a major review of its shape and size and the appointment of John Hood, an entrepreneurial vice-chancellor from New Zealand. The appointment of Hood, who would become the first outsider to head Oxford for 900 years if he receives approval from the congregation, comes as the university contemplates reducing its number of undergraduates in favour of postgraduates, reforming its collegiate structure and centralising its admissions system.

Critic of Oxford reforms gains seat on council

Nicholas Bamforth, fellow in law at Queen's College, has been elected to Oxford University's governing council. Mr Bamforth is an outspoken critic of John Hood's, vice-chancellor at Oxford, governance reforms.
