Article Abstract:
In the light of the Indian Ocean tsunami, an analysis is made of the eruption of the Santorini volcano in the Aegean Sea about 3,500 years ago and the possible impact this eruption could have had on the civilizations of Minoan Crete. It is contended that the eruption of Santorini was the catalyst for economic, religious and social change on Crete.
