Chests beat out people's power
Article Abstract:
Issues relating to how, despite Anglo-American opposition, political Islam could provide the people of Iraq with a way to create a democratic and inclusive future are examined. It is argued that political Islam, with its history of anti-violence, anti-racist, anti-hegemonic and anti-colonial traditions, could offer civil society in Iraq a greater hope for the future, so long as it able to avoid becoming a theocracy or a dictatorship - which would only serve to support the contention that political Islam has still not matured into a systemic ideology.

...believe security dossiers have been cooked up to justify war with Iraq
Article Abstract:
Issues relating to the supposedly detailed reports issued by the UK government and produced by the British intelligence services on the Iraqi security infrastructure are examined. It is argued that the reports were plagiarised from the work of academics, rather than being genuine works produced by the intelligence services, and that when the original works did not fit the spin the British government was aiming for, they were altered in ways that distorted the original meaning of the work in order to give a false image of the danger posed by Iraq.
