Article Abstract:
Commerce is the largest influencing factor in everyday life, for better and for worse and the most striking dimension is seen in the human body has become a victim of new biotechnologies and biological procedures that promise to improve, control or manipulate our native biology. A look into the future of biotechnologies - stem-cell-based medicine, genetic enhancements, makes it clear that commerce of the body will become more ambitious, selling bodily perfection to anyone with enough disposable income.

The Bush administration is neglecting the needs of the ground forces in favor of perfecting its long-range strike capabilities, while equipping the U.S. army for its continuing role in Iraq and Afghanistan. However, the emphasis on transforming the military into a high-tech, destruction-oriented force is promoting a military that is dangerously ill-equipped for its role in contemporary warfare.

Biotechnologists in China and the U.K. are blurring the boundaries between humans and animals by creating man-animal embryos, known as chimeras. However, while some of these cloning experiments offer the possibility of useful results, such as cures for chronic or even fatal diseases, they also raise certain critical questions such as how interchangeable man is with other animals.
