New life in e-books
Article Abstract:
Some observers have suggested using electronic publishing for academic monographs may be a way of helping academics who have experienced difficulty in having their books published in print. There is concern young academics will find it increasingly hard to get their work published which will have severe implications for their future careers. Although it is unclear if electronically published books will be seen as equal to publishing in print by appointment boards. Many libraries have reduced the number of monographs they purchase preferring to spend their funds on periodicals.
