Divided they surely fall
Article Abstract:
The BP Team Development scheme has been set up to give UK university students the chance to work on problem solving projects. It allows the students to develop their skills of working within a group, exchanging and challenging new ideas. They learn to interact with other group members and often become more confident in their own abilities. The scheme was initiated in response to the apparent failure of universities to prepare students for team working in the work environment. University teaching tends to focus on individual success rather than the team approach found in the work place.

A national measure for minds
Article Abstract:
There is a need for greater accountability in higher education in the UK. Students should know that they are receiving an education that meets certain criteria. Opponents argue that autonomy should be preserved, but this should not mean that public sector funds should be provided for academics teaching any subject they please. There is a need for flexibility in order to avoid problems of bureaucracy. Higher education should respond to the challenge and would thus be better able to defend itself.
