Forecasters who told you so; Norman Lamont and his policies have few defenders in the common rooms
Article Abstract:
The economic problems experienced by the British economy in 1992 have a parallel with events in 1981, but there is less criticism of the policies used now than those used a decade ago. Many economists signed a letter criticising government economic policy then, but that is unlikely to happen now. The 1980's arguments were between rival supporters of opposing economic theories, now the worry is about the whole economy rather than just sterling's performance.
