William F. Ruddiman, professor of environmental sciences at the University of Virginia, puts forward the argument that, 8,000 years ago, the agricultural activities of humans started a process of global warming that may have staved off an ice age. Ruddiman makes the argument in his book "Plows, Plagues and Petroleum: How Humans took Control of Climate".

We need a change of climate to survive
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the problems facing research into and political debate of global warming and the steps that need to be undertaken to address the issue. It is argued that it will take more than just scientists to come up with solutions to global warming and that climate change is the most deeply geopolitical issue ever faced by humanity.
