Making sure fraternite is not just for the boys
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the problems that educational establishments in France are facing in their attempts to remain secular and ban ostentatious or insistent religious signs. It is conceded that lines must be drawn about what is and isn't acceptable in schools, but it is suggested that recent French legislation designed to control the expression of religion was clumsy and ill-considered.

An analysis of the French solution to the rules regulating peer review. The French believe that their system of disinterested and impartial review of candidates helps prevent the feelings of paranoia and bitterness that other systems engender.

France has always strived for their education system to be based on equality and because of this its number of undergraduates continues to rise. Despite this, France's upper level education is fitted for the middle class.
