Music to our cash tills
Article Abstract:
The UK music business is unprofessional and notoriously inefficient, despite its major role in the UK economy. The UK music industry provides more than 115,000 full-time jobs and generates a net output of 2.5 billion pounds sterling, yet a Policy Research Institute study has revealed that fewer than 59% of music industry managers possess any relevant business qualifications. The Dept. for Education and Employment is therefore working with music industry trade organisation the International Managers' Forum to draw up qualifications and establish courses, particularly in music management.
