Muslim course network collapses
Article Abstract:
Course franchising in the West Midlands, England, has encountered problems with the collapse of a community class scheme in Birmingham, in the region. College staff carried out checks on course centers prior to the planned release of 1 million pounds sterling funding for the providers of courses. Nine courses were running, but many courses had been cancelled. The college faces a deficit after cancelling the courses and may lose staff if this income cannot be replaced.

Unions reject 2.1% pay offer
Article Abstract:
UK university labor unions have rejected a proposal to increase pay for technical and academic employees of 2.1% for 1995 from the University and Colleges Employers Association. UK inflation was 3.6% in Feb 1995 and the Association of University Teachers sought a rise of 5%. The pay offer is in line with increases in funding for UK universities. The employers argue that they do not have resources to pay more and should not use their reserves to fund pay increases.
