Analysis of the Booker Prize and its relevance to the academic study of literature. It is argued that the Booker is important because it puts books forward as potential additions to the future canon of English literature, and because it represents the best that is available at a particular moment in the history of literature.

Practising preachers
Article Abstract:
Teachers who are actively involved in research tend to be better teachers, contrary to what the UK government would like to believe. It is argued that the reason for this being the case is because the teacher is actually practising what they are preaching, rather than simply passing on old experiences.
