Nurturing the creative
Article Abstract:
Royal College of Art Rector Christopher Frayling was concerned governmental support for creative industries failed to acknowledge the contribution of art and design education. Industry has already become involved in working with art and design colleges. Some colleges have applied for funding, to progress their collaboration with industry, from the Higher Education Funding Council for England. The Interval Research Corporation have set up an initiative which tries to bring colleges and industries together. Some 1.5 million people in the UK are working in the creative sector.

Wales adds up price of freedom
Article Abstract:
Issues concerning the difficult financial situation of the Universities of Wales are discussed, with particular focus on the measures that could be taken to improve higher education funding. Comparisons are drawn between English and Welsh University funding procedures.

A discussion on the reasons why British universities have failed to obtain money from the European Union is presented. Only 45 universities received funds from the European Social Fund compared to 70 two years previously.
