Postgrad boom for ex-polys
Article Abstract:
A new survey has revealed that new universities have experienced an explosion in their postgraduate numbers, with the number of postgraduates in the former polytechnic sector rising by 65% to 170,855 between 1995-1996 and 2002-2003. The research also revealed that the number of overseas postgraduates attending the same institutions rose from 10,048 to 34,700 over the same period.

Poll finds campus swings to Tories
Article Abstract:
Conservative popularity is rising on campus, with 14 percent of academics polled by ICM saying they would vote Conservative if there were a general election tomorrow, up from 10 percent in 2005. A total of 38 percent would vote Liberal Democrat, 35 percent Labour and 13 percent would vote for other parties.

Stephen Williams, Liberal Democrat Higher Education Spokesman, will face questions of his party abandons its commitment to abolishing university tuition fees. Mr Williams is clear that any funding system must be fair to all students and must not overburden them with debt.
