Liberal Democrat Spokesman on Higher Education Phil Willis suggests further and higher education should be funded through taxes, by the students and by employers contributions. Scottish National Party Education Spokesperson Nicola Sturgeon points out her party intends to stop tuition fees in Scotland, as soon as possible. Conservative Spokesman on Higher and Further Education Damian Green suggests colleges and universities should be allowed to act independently. Higher Education Minister Baroness Blackstone confirms the higher education sector will have more funding for 1998-99.
