Toward a new world order: the United States and Europe
Article Abstract:
The relationship between the US and Europe is examined from after the second world war to the '90s. It is argued that with the new environment, the US foreign policy should be shaped accordingly. The traditional pattern of seeing the relationship between nations as akin to that between individuals and the conversion/destruction of those who refuse to fit the pattern is no longer applicable. It would be in America's interest to recognize the fact that its relationships with the different countries in Eastern and Western Europe and the Pacific Community need different approaches and that the 'one size fits all' policy is not at all applicable.
