Alpine renews car audio designs, expands offerings of map software

Alpine Electronics Inc intends to broaden its product roster for all audio-video (A/V) sectors to secure its position in the car-audio aftermarket. Aside from upgrading and redesigning its car-audio products in spring-1998, the company launched its first MiniDisc (MD) players and TV tuners under Alpine brands. The company now offers 23 amplifiers, speakers and equalizers; 15 variants of CD and MD equipment in up to 2-DIN sizes; and five A/V, navigation and map CD products. Notable models include the full-scale vehicle-use TVE-T011A TV tuner; and the TMEC005A monitor that features touch-screen navigation function.

Ample capacity, quality put DVD-Audio at top of audio 'wish list'
Article Abstract:
DVD-Audio is expected to become the standard for future audio entertainment with the release of Version 1.0 of the DVD-Audio Format. DVD-Audio discs are single-sided, single-layer discs with a 4.7GB capacity. The format has a structure which is composed of the audio title set, which carries basic multimedia audio functions, including 2-channel, 6-channel audio, still image and text functions; and the video title set for DVD-Video compatibility, which supports the moving picture function requested from software providers.
