Victor Co of Japan Ltd introduces its GD-V4211PZ 42-in plasma display panel that works with class B standards for electromagnetic disturbance. This means that radios and televisions can be used within 10 m of the panel. The product features strong function to reduce burn-in and after- image problems. Also, the panel offers color reverse, pixel-shift and white-back functions. The contrast ratio is 700:1. Excluding ledges, the thickness of the main unit is 89 mm. It weighs 35.8 kg.

NEC Corp has been bolstering its position in the plasma display panel (PDP) market by forging alliances in the fields of development and sales. The company is aiming to sell 20,000 units of PDP in fiscal 1999. NEC's PDPs find use in home theater systems, public information displays, CRT computer monitors and LCD projectors. The company's marketing activities outside Japan are focused on Europe and the US.
