Strong yen pushes small motor production out of Japan
Article Abstract:
Japan's production of small motors in 1999 declined to 197.89 million units, a 15.2% drop from the previous year. This is because an increasing number of Japanese manufacturers are moving production of the equipment outside the country. Manufacturers have been shifting production of various high-technology miniature motors owing to a strong yen. Also, production in value terms fell Y78.41 billion, a slide of 18% from 1998.
