Matsushita charts careful course in tough car audio markets abroad

Matsuhita Communication Industrial Co Ltd intends to boost sales efforts while incorporating innovative concepts in its car-audio equipment, as it seeks to secure a 10% share of the worldwide car audio aftermarket, after concentrating on the OEM segment. Among the company's existing products are its MXF series of CD players and receigers; its FX series of CD radiocassette systems; the CQ-VA70P in-dash receiver for TV, FM and AM bands, the CX-VCD10 Video CD/music CD player with eight-disc changer; and the Panasonic-brand car audio sytem with Anti-Shock Memory.

Japanese manufacturer Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd is focusing efforts toward the development of compact, fine performance digital camcorders in anticipation of an imminent shift from analog to digital camcorders. The firm is poised to launch a number of camcorder models with large liquid crystal display monitors and digital formats. It expects digital videocassette camcorder demand to reach 8.5 million-10 million units in 1998.
